A number of health promotion programs especially target women’s health needs.
Well Women’s Clinics
Women’s health is promoted via regular Well Women’s Clinics. A female GP visits Rokewood and Beeac Community Health Service every two months and provides a ‘female only’ clinic, providing key women’s health services such as cervical screening.
Regular breast screening is encouraged and facilitated through a transportation service to Breast Screen Clinic in Geelong.
The Nesters Group, run at Beeac Community Health, is a support group aimed at parents whose children have grown and left the family home. The group offers peer support and develops important social connections.
Maternal Child Health & Immunisations
Maternal Child Health and childhood immunisation services provided by the Colac Otway, Surf Coast and Golden Plains Shires visit Beeac, Winchelsea and Rokewood Community Health Centres on a monthly basis.
Women’s Health Forums
Women’s health information is also provided through regular community education forums with invited guest speakers discussing relevant topics such as breast & cervical cancer, osteoporosis, sexual health, menopause and mental health.
